About the Program
There is no better place to study film and television than in Hollywood. Based out of our very own Mount Saint Mary's Hollywood studio, our MFA and certificate programs offer the skills, networking and industry experience students need to succeed in the entertainment industry.
The Film, Television & Photography programs at Mount Saint Mary’s University provide students with all of the essential skills needed to create and produce professional films. Students will also build a body of work that demonstrates their abilities in each aspect of the creative and technical process in a professional studio setting. The centerpiece of the department’s curriculum is to encourage collaborative film-making, innovative thinking and a critical, hands-on understanding of new technologies -- all while using the latest equipment.
Class sizes are small (with a student-to-faculty ratio of 18:1) to allow personalized one-on-one instruction and mentoring from leaders in the film and television industry.

Hands-on studio experience
Students can jump right into the center of the highly competitive entertainment industry. Our MFA and film certificate courses are hosted at our MSMU Hollywood Studio.
At MSMU, our individualized approach allows students to choose their own path as they learn from expert faculty and train on RED, Arri ALEXA, Blackmagic and Canon cameras and workflows.
The weekend format allowed me to continue working on my current projects as an active filmmaker. The professors in the program have strengthened my artistic development and opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities, both in artistic creation and industry business.
