Study of Religions
Our Study of Religions concentration is inherently interdisciplinary and inter-religious. It employs social-scientific methods and theories to study religion. Within this concentration, we seek to understand and analyze the meaning and function of religious traditions and practices over time, paying particular attention to religious phenomena emerging from specific socio-cultural and geo-political contexts.
Contextual Theology
The concentration in Contextual Theology illuminates and analyzes the ways Christian theologies, in particular, are radically shaped by context. This concentration is directly aligned with developments in the Roman Catholic Church brought about at the Second Vatican Council that encouraged the proliferation of knowledges and practices not of a "theology of the world in the Church, but a theology of Church in the world."
Flexible pace
Part-time and full-time enrollment options combined with evening or weekend classes keep our MA in Religious Studies program flexible for working professionals. Students customize a course of study that fits their lifestyle.
Practical learning
We encourage our students to apply what they learn to their own community and bring local issues of importance into the scope the class discussion with our unique curriculum.
Passion in action
Students complete their master’s degree with a project they are passionate about. Previous projects range from explorations of scripture to the implementation of new programs within a student's professional workplace.
