HOW TO
USE THIS
RESOURCE

There's a lot to consider when you are thinking about transferring colleges. We encourage you to explore this resource  cover to cover or drop down to a section that appeals to you.

CONSIDERING TRANSFERRING?

If you’re thinking about transferring colleges, you’re in good company: around one-third of students transfer colleges at some point during undergrad. Community college transfers represent about 15 percent of new enrollments at four-year institutions, and community college students make up 29 percent of total undergraduate enrollment in the United States — meaning that they will eventually need to transfer in order to complete a four-year degree.

Whatever your reasons for transferring schools, it can seem intimidating and overwhelming to start the process. However, once you've made your move, the benefits of transferring can be reaped for years to come — from the rest of your college experience to the jobs you qualify for with a bachelor’s degree.

Benefits of Transferring Colleges

We’ve outlined some of the biggest benefits that can be gained when transferring colleges or universities.

Access to more competitive schools and programs
 Potential for academic scholarships
Clarity in what you’re looking for in a school
Saving money by completing your general education courses first

Remember, the perks of switching colleges can set you up for long-term wins and boost your potential job prospects with a bachelor’s degree.
